Culture Shock is a real thing.

Italy is beautiful. It is our home. It’s where we fell in love. It can also be.. different than what some might be used to. Here we have compiled a few helpful hints for any friends or family that have yet to experience Italy in all of its glory.

  • Pack Light -  Large suitcases are not fun on steps and cobblestones.

  • Hotels charge a tourist tax and most require you to pay in cash (Euros).

  • Most hotels will have AC but it is not a guarantee.

  • Outside of hotels and stores most places will not have AC.

  • Shoulders and knees must be covered in churches.

  • Tipping is not required.

  • When dining out, the waiter will leave you to enjoy your meal, uninterrupted. If you need them for any reason you will most likely need to signal to them.

  • Carry Euros - some places may charge to use the bathroom.

  • Many bathrooms don’t have toilet paper - carrying a small kleenex pack to use as toilet paper is always a good idea.

  • Most likely any airbnb/hotel will not have washcloths.  If you use a washcloth, pack your own.
